More than 11,000 people have had a home since 2001 at the "Madre del Redentor" house of Cáritas, according to the Diocese of Córdoba. Of all of them, 66% had a normalised life before arriving at the resource, that is, two out of every three people taken in did not come from a situation of prolonged exclusion. The figure helps to understand whom the house serves: most of those who cross its door did not come from the street, but from a life that broke for some reason. The usual profile is that of someone who had housing, work or a family network and who, at a given moment, was left with nothing. The resource operates with the collaboration of the Cabildo and the work of volunteers, whom the Diocese describes as "active and effective", together with the Mercedarian sisters. The figure of more than 11,000 people in 25 years is equivalent to an average of about 440 people taken in per year, although the distribution has not been uniform throughout this quarter of a century. The "Madre del Redentor" house is a reception resource of Cáritas, the organisation of the Catholic Church dedicated to social action. Its work focuses on providing accommodation and support to people who are left without a home, with the support of volunteers and local administrations. The balance coincides with the 25th anniversary of the resource, which began in 2001. Since then, the house has maintained its activity continuously, according to the data provided by the Diocese.
