The music bands of Iznájar and Cuevas de San Marcos will play together on Saturday, November 21 in a twinning contest in honor of Santa Cecilia, patron saint of music. The event is organized by the Culture Area of the Iznájar City Council with the collaboration of the Asociación Musical Cultural La Lira. The day will begin with a parade that will start at the Calvario and end at the Salón de Usos Múltiples. There, at 20:00, a concert will be offered in which a band made up of members of the Banda Municipal La Lira de Iznájar and the Banda Maestro Quintana de Cuevas de San Marcos will participate. Admission is charitable: each person may contribute a donation intended to help Isi and Rosi, who recently suffered an accident in their home.

Two towns with a musical tradition

According to the Iznájar City Council, the initiative seeks to strengthen ties between both groups and to highlight the musical tradition of these localities. Iznájar is a municipality in the Subbética region, on the banks of the Genil river and the Iznájar reservoir, which in 2016 had 4,461 inhabitants, according to data collected in Wikipedia. Cuevas de San Marcos is located near that same reservoir, completed in 1969 and the largest in Andalusia with a capacity of 981 cubic hectometers. Anyone who wants to attend the concert only has to go to the Salón de Usos Múltiples on Saturday, November 21 at 20:00 and contribute their donation at the entrance. The previous parade does not require registration.
