Lucena hosts a classic vehicle gathering and a ham-cutting contest on Sunday

Around 130 cars and ten cutters take part on Sunday, November 8, in two charity events in aid of the ASD classroom at CEIP Virgen del Valle.

The Caseta Municipal in Lucena brings together motoring and gastronomy on Sunday, November 8, with a single goal: raising funds for the ASD classroom at CEIP Virgen del Valle. That day the II Ciudad de Lucena Classic and Historic Vehicle Gathering and the III National Ham-Cutting Contest will be held, as announced by the Lucena City Council. The gathering is aimed at cars more than 25 years old and expects to bring together around 130 cars and more than 200 participants from different parts of Andalusia. Vehicle reception and registration will be from 8:30 to 10:00, with breakfast for attendees. At 12:00 a route of about 20 kilometres will set off and end at the Santuario de la Virgen de Araceli, after which there will be a gathering at the Caseta Municipal with a charity bar and activities for participants. The III National Ham-Cutting Contest is organised by La Granja de Josele. Ten professionals from all over Spain will take part, selected from the 22 applications received. The contest will run from 12:00 to 14:15 before a jury of five members from different Andalusian provinces. The cut ham will be sold to raise funds going entirely to the ASD classroom, and the contest will count towards the final of the 2027 Spanish Championship, to be held in Mérida. Both activities will end with a joint presentation of prizes and diplomas. The councillor for the Presidency, Francis Aguilar, has thanked the involvement of the Automóvil Club Sierra de Aras, Brothers Classic Blues de Málaga and La Granja de Josele, and has encouraged the public to take part. To take part in the vehicle gathering, go to reception and registration at the Caseta Municipal on Sunday, November 8, between 8:30 and 10:00. The cutting contest is held at the same venue from 12:00 to 14:15.
