Priego launches a campaign to boost local commerce at Christmas

The Priego de Córdoba City Council presents «De compras por Priego», with a budget of 11.376,88 euros and 5.000 bags for the shops.

Commerce in Priego de Córdoba will have its own campaign this year to encourage shopping in the town's establishments during Christmas. The City Council has presented «De compras por Priego», an initiative that combines commercial promotion and actions aimed at linking commerce, tourism and heritage, as indicated by the Consistory. The project has a total budget of 11.376,88 euros, with municipal funding and a subsidy of 5.286 euros from the Junta de Andalucía through the Consejería de Empleo, Empresa y Trabajo Autónomo. The campaign is driven by the delegations of Desarrollo Económico and Turismo. Among the planned actions are promotion through vinyls on the urban bus and radio spots on local and regional stations. 5.000 paper bags with the campaign image will also be produced, to be distributed among the establishments, along with personalized gift wrap for participating businesses.

Gift-wrapping point at the Paseíllo

During the Christmas campaign, a free gift-wrapping point will be set up at the Paseíllo for gifts purchased in Priego's shops. The service will be available during the December long weekend and on later Christmas dates. The initiative has the collaboration of the Asociación Centro Comercial Abierto de Priego (ACCA), which brings together more than 200 associated establishments. The councillor for Desarrollo Económico, José Guzmán, has encouraged the people of Priego, its villages and nearby municipalities to shop at local businesses, and has noted that the spending returns to the local economy and contributes to maintaining employment and business activity.
