Exhibition on the legacy of San Francisco opens at the Mezquita-Catedral
The exhibition, set up in the ampliación de Almanzor, can be visited until October 25 as part of the events for the VIII centenary of the death of San Francisco de Asís.

An exhibition on the mark left by San Francisco de Asís on the Diócesis de Córdoba opened its doors to the public on Wednesday, September 16, in the ampliación de Almanzor at the Mezquita-Catedral. The exhibition will remain open until October 25, 2026.
The exhibition, titled «El Señor me dio... El legado de San Francisco en la Diócesis de Córdoba», is part of the events organized on the occasion of the VIII centenary of the death of San Francisco de Asís (1226-2026). The initiative has been promoted by the Cabildo Catedral de Córdoba and the Familia Franciscana de la Diócesis.
The tour takes the saint's testament as its guiding thread and brings together paintings, sculptures, works of goldsmithing, and devotional pieces that show the influence of the Franciscan order on the local Church over the centuries. The curator of the exhibition is Alfonso M. Muñoz Rodríguez, a graduate in Art History with a master's degree in Museology.
The pieces on display come from loans by the Cabildo Catedral itself, the parroquia de San Francisco y San Eulogio de Córdoba, and convents of the Clarisas, Capuchinas, Concepcionistas, and Hermanos Menores orders, as well as brotherhoods linked to the Franciscan order in the capital and in Belalcázar, Montilla, Lucena, Bujalance, and Sevilla.
During the opening, the bishop of Córdoba, monseñor Jesús Fernández, noted that San Francisco «continues to proclaim through his testament of life three fundamental truths: the joy of evangelical poverty, universal fraternity, and peace as a gift and a task». The bishop thanked the Cabildo Catedral, the Diputación de Córdoba, and all those who collaborated for their contribution in making the exhibition possible.
