Cabra celebrates the Semana de los Mayores from September 27 to October 3
The program includes petanca and dominoes championships, a cultural trip to Córdoba, a talk on gut health, a yogalates workshop and a visit to the Cerro de la Merced, among other activities.

The Cabra Town Council has presented the Senior Citizens Week 2026 programme, which will be held between Sunday, September 27 and Saturday, October 3, with sports, cultural, educational, health-related and social activities aimed at the municipality's senior citizens.
The programme will begin on Sunday, September 27 with the Local Petanca Championship, which will take place from 9.30 hours at the courts of the Virgen de la Sierra neighborhood. The following day, Monday the 28th, the Local Domino Championship will take place from 9.00 hours at the Centro Municipal de Servicios Sociales.
On Tuesday, September 29, a cultural trip to Córdoba will be made, departing at 9.00 hours from the Estación de Autobuses. The day will include a guided visit to Medina Azahara between 10.30 and 13.00 hours, a social lunch, and a visit to the Mezquita-Catedral at 16.00 hours.
On Wednesday, September 30, the Centro de Participación Activa will host at 18.00 hours the talk «Salud intestinal», given by community nurses Raquel Espejo and Claudia Ruiz, followed by a social afternoon snack. On Thursday, October 1, a yogalates workshop will begin at the Corpore Zen gym, aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle habits.
On Friday, October 2, a visit to the archaeological site of Cerro de la Merced will take place along with a miller's breakfast. Departure will be at 9.00 hours from the Estación de Autobuses; the activity will include a healthy breakfast at the foot of the site, a guided visit, and a hiking route from the esplanade in front of the Venta de los Pelaos to Jarca, with return to Cabra expected at 13.00 hours.
The week will conclude on Saturday, October 3 with the institutional celebration of the Día de Nuestros Mayores, which will begin at 12.30 hours at the Cinestudio Municipal «Antonio Espinar Arcos». During the event, tribute will be paid, as «Mayores del Año», to José Espejo Gómez and Carmen Campos Rivera, followed by a social toast.
According to the statement issued by the Cabra Town Council, the municipal delegate for Senior Citizens, Rosi Lama, has stated that the programme seeks to offer «spaces to meet, enjoy, stay active and feel loved and be the center of attention». For her part, the social worker of the Centro Municipal de Servicios Sociales, Conchi León, has indicated that the initiative aims to be «a meeting place for all people who want to take part».
