The document is presented as a guide to promote pastoral conversion, discernment and co-responsibility of the different realities of the diocesan Church: parishes, movements, hermandades, schools, delegations and associations. As the bishop explained, the plan will act as a framework of reference for the design of the pastoral program that each entity draws up annually.
During the same address, Monsignor Jesús Fernández also presented his pastoral letter, titled «Se acercó y se puso a caminar con ellos». The text invites the diocesan community to walk a path of hope, communion and mission, taking as a reference the gospel episode of the disciples of Emmaus, who according to the account moved from disappointment to hope after their encounter with Christ.
The bishop noted that this path should help transform «their disorientation into a clear horizon, their isolation into community life», referring to the diocesan community, and to promote a Church that proclaims Jesus Christ from communion and the synodal spirit.
Profiles of a missionary Church
The bishop's address focused on describing the profiles of a missionary and evangelizing Church, as well as on the element that, as he explained, is necessary to walk that path in its apostolic dimension: the Word of God.
The prelate concluded his address by stressing that the Pastoral Plan should be understood as a framework plan, that is, a general reference document that must guide the specific pastoral program that each parish, movement or diocesan entity draws up for the year.
