The Junta repairs the damage to Córdoba's Puente Romano caused by flooding
The works, with a budget of just over 240,000 euros, will remove the sediment accumulated under the bridge and will then replace the lighting damaged on the tajamares.

The Junta de Andalucía has begun repair works on the Puente Romano of Córdoba, damaged by the rise of the Guadalquivir river during the storm system of 2026. According to the note issued by the Consejería de Fomento y Movilidad, the works aim to restore the bridge's functionality and ensure its safety against future floods.
The works include the repair of electrical installations, the flooring and other damaged elements, as well as the removal of silting and debris accumulated around the structure. The hydraulic section under the affected arches will also be restored, and deposits next to the tajamares and zampeados will be removed, as these can promote erosion of the ground beneath the foundations (scouring) or cause them to lose support (undermining).
At this time, cleaning and removal works of sediments, soil and debris under the bridge are being carried out, focused especially on the two arches closest to the Torre de la Calahorra, where more material has accumulated. Once this phase is finished, it will remain to replace the deteriorated ornamental lamps located on the tajamares.
The Consejero de Fomento, Mario Muñoz-Atanet, has visited the works together with the mayor of Córdoba, José María Bellido. Muñoz-Atanet has stated that the action «is not limited only to fixing the damage caused, but preserves a part of the city's history», referring to the fact that the bridge is part of the Conjunto Histórico declared a World Heritage Site and of the monumental axis that links the Mezquita-Catedral with the Torre de la Calahorra.
The action on the Puente Romano has a budget of just over 240,000 euros and is part of a larger set of works in the east of the province, valued at close to five million euros and awarded to the company Aceinsa Movilidad. That package also includes interventions on the road from El Carpio to Torredonjimeno (A-306), the one from Montoro to Castro del Río (A-309), the A-3126 (from the A-3125 to Valenzuela), the A-3127 (from Castro del Río to Cañete de las Torres) and the A-3125 (from Cañete de las Torres to Baena).
These works are part of the Plan Andalucía Actúa, which according to the Consejería covers approximately one thousand kilometers of roads and highways with an estimated investment of 278 million euros to repair roads affected by the rains. In the province of Córdoba, the plan's actions total 21 million euros spread across seven emergency works affecting 51 points with incidents on 24 roads.
