The president of Nuevas Generaciones (NNGG) of Córdoba, Ángel López, has met with the Andalusian MEP Carmen Crespo at the European Parliament, as part of the Youth Week of the European People's Party (EPP), to address the main concerns of young farmers in the province.

According to the statement sent by the PP of Córdoba, the meeting covered issues such as generational renewal in the countryside, young people's access to land and financing, the profitability of farms, bureaucracy and the Common Agricultural Policy (PAC).

López conveyed to Crespo the concern of young Córdoba farmers about the difficulties in joining the sector. «If we want to guarantee the future of our towns and our agriculture, we have to make being a farmer a future option for young people again,» said López, according to the statement.

The president of NNGG of Córdoba praised the policies of the Andalusian Government to favor the incorporation of young people into the countryside, support the modernization of farms and facilitate generational renewal, and criticized the policies of the central Government on agricultural matters, which he blamed for creating «obstacles» and «bureaucracy» for the sector.

NNGG of Córdoba defended, according to the statement, a PAC that protects agricultural activity, boosts generational renewal and guarantees the competitiveness of farmers against third countries, as well as the need for decisions made in Brussels to take into account the reality of agricultural territories such as Córdoba.

The meeting is part of NNGG Córdoba's participation in the Youth Week of the EPP, an initiative that allows young people from different parts of Europe to bring their proposals to European political representatives.
