A UCO research unit receives the One Health 2026 Award
The Unidad de Investigación Competitiva en Zoonosis y Enfermedades Emergentes (ENZOEM) of the Universidad de Córdoba received the award on September 12 in Málaga for its work on diseases affecting people, animals and the environment.

The Competitive Research Unit on Zoonoses and Emerging Diseases (ENZOEM), of the University of Córdoba, has received the One Health 2026 Award, granted by the One Health Chair of the Official College of Veterinarians of Málaga and the University of Málaga.
The award was presented on September 12 during the third edition of the Gala de la Profesión Veterinaria Malagueña, organized by the Ilustre Colegio Oficial de Veterinarios de la Provincia de Málaga. This event recognizes, according to the note sent by the University of Córdoba, the career and contribution to society of veterinary professionals, as well as institutions linked to the college.
The award was collected by the director of ENZOEM, Mª Ángeles Risalde, and distinguishes the scientific work of the unit in the study and prevention of diseases that affect, in an interrelated way, people, animals and the environment, an approach known as «One Health».
The Official College of Veterinarians of Málaga stated that «the work of ENZOEM represents the multidisciplinary vision that defines the One Health approach and the need to strengthen research, epidemiological surveillance and collaboration between institutions in order to respond to emerging diseases and other health challenges».
During the same gala, the work of GRUPRONA, the Asociación Cultural Zegrí and the veterinarians who cared for the animals affected by the floods in Grazalema and Benaoján was also recognized. Elena Ayllón and the Colegio de Veterinarios de Melilla, for their part, received the V de Oro presented at the event.
