The day began with breakfast at Bar La Estrella 2.0 and continued in the Salón de Plenos del Ayuntamiento with the institutional opening. Before the working tables, diplomas were awarded for the «Por un Millón de Pasos» initiative, in which 62 people jointly reached four million five hundred eighty-eight thousand three hundred ninety-six steps.
Three discussion panels were held. The first, on mental and emotional health, addressed prevention, support, and the need for support networks, with the participation of a social worker from the Servicio Andaluz de Salud, a family and community nursing professional, and representatives of the Asociación Semillas de Futuro de Montoro. At this panel, the founder of ASTUCE Spain, Manuel Meléndez, presented data from a study on the perception of brain tumors, according to which six out of ten people acknowledge having very limited or no knowledge of this condition, and called for more information, awareness and media presence of the disease, as well as for reducing territorial inequalities in diagnosis and treatment.
The second panel dealt with the social-healthcare resources available in the comarca and coordination among health services, social services, associations and professionals. Participants included the coordinator and a psychologist and physiotherapist from the Asociación de Familiares de Enfermos con Patología Neurodegenerativa (AFEPN), together with the same speakers from the first panel. The third, dedicated to nutrition and daily habits, was led by an osteopath and rehabilitation assistant.
At the end of the panels, a recognition plaque was presented to each of the participating associations. This edition included entities from Villa del Río, Villafranca de Córdoba, Pedro Abad, Montoro, Cañete de las Torres and Adamuz, among them local branches of the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer, fibromyalgia associations and others linked to mental health, leisure for the elderly or specific illnesses.
In the afternoon, attendees visited the Museo Histórico Municipal «Casa de las Cadenas», where they were able to see the works selected for the VIII Certamen Nacional de Pintura «Pedro Bueno» and the permanent collections. The day ended at the Teatro Olimpia with a performance of «El sueño de una noche de verano», by Aracne Teatro, an adaptation of Shakespeare's work directed by Carmen Rey set in the 1920s.
The event was attended by the mayor of Villa del Río, Jesús Morales Molina; the delegada territorial de Sanidad y Consumo de la Junta de Andalucía en Córdoba, María Jesús Campos Aguilera; the director gerente del Distrito Sanitario Córdoba Guadalquivir, Ana Lourdes Leal Domingo; the concejala de Servicios Sociales, Mayores, Igualdad y Familias de Villa del Río, María Soto Caro; and the concejala de Participación Ciudadana de Montoro, Isabel María Isasa Cruz.
