Families, pupils and members of the educational community of CEIP Poeta Molleja gathered this Friday, October 23, 2026, at the doors of the school canteen, called by the AMPA Guadalquivir, to demand an improvement in the quality of the canteen service.

What the families are asking for

The participants expressed their concern about the incidents in the service and demanded quality food, sufficient portions and solutions that guarantee the well-being of the schoolchildren, according to the Education area of the Villa del Río City Council.

Proceedings against the contracted company

The municipal representatives passed on to the families the information the City Council has about the actions of the Junta de Andalucía regarding the incidents detected. The regional administration has opened an informative file against the contracted company, which has committed to reviewing its quality protocols and to launching an action plan to prevent further incidents. Inspections have also been carried out by the competent technicians and a sanctioning file is expected to be processed once the corresponding information has been evaluated. The City Council has stressed the importance of strengthening the monitoring and control mechanisms of the service, encouraging the participation of school management teams and of the mothers' and fathers' associations.

Municipal support

The City Council expressed its respect for the families' demands and its willingness to maintain dialogue with the educational community and to collaborate, within its powers, with the responsible administrations. The Councillor for Education, Leticia Barragán Herrera, and the Second Deputy Mayor, Almudena Mantilla Pérez, were present at the rally and spoke with the families.
