The awarded companies, Ibedul and Jamones Sierra Morena, belong to the family group Hermanos Rodríguez Barbancho, based in Hinojosa del Duque. The award adds to the work of livestock farmers, cooperatives, industrialists and professionals of the Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP) Los Pedroches, according to the note issued by the Diputación de Córdoba.
The president of the Diputación, Salvador Fuentes, congratulated the winning companies, the Rodríguez Barbancho family, the DOP Los Pedroches and the livestock farmers and ham masters of the region. Fuentes linked the quality of the product to the dehesa ecosystem, where the Iberian pig is raised freely and feeds on the natural resources of the area.
Certification of pieces in 2025
According to the data provided by the Diputación, during 2025 the Consejo Regulador of the DOP Los Pedroches certified 69,577 pieces of Jamón and Paleta 100% Ibéricos, 2.8% more than the previous year. Of that total, 62,367 pieces corresponded to the Bellota 100% Ibérico category, almost 90% of all certified pieces, while the remaining 7,210 pieces were Cebo de Campo 100% Ibérico.
Fuentes noted that these figures reflect «a sector that has spent years doing things very well, committing to quality, to traceability and to a model linked to the dehesa and traditional production».
The provincial president also recalled that the institution maintains various initiatives to support the sector, including the promotion of Iberian ham at sectoral fairs within and outside the province, and the project «Dormir en Los Pedroches», which last December combined lodging, gastronomy and territory to showcase the dehesa and its products to those visiting the region.
Fuentes also congratulated the organizers of the Mundial del Jamón for having created, as he stated, an event capable of bringing together the main Iberian ham producing areas and putting the focus on the origin of the product.
