PP denounces paralysis of the expansion project of the Archaeological Museum of Córdoba
PP senator Cristina Casanueva demands that the Government tender the expansion and renovation works of the Archaeological Museum, a project that, she denounces, has not progressed for years despite having the basic project drafted since 2023.

The senator of the Partido Popular for Córdoba, Cristina Casanueva, has denounced what she describes as the paralysis of the expansion and renovation project of the Museo Arqueológico de Córdoba, and has asked the Government of Spain to clarify the situation and specify when it plans to put the works out to tender and begin them.
According to Casanueva, the basic project needed to request the building permit from the Ayuntamiento de Córdoba and process the authorizations before the Junta de Andalucía has been drafted and paid for since 2023. The senator recalls that in 2024 the Government committed to requesting that permit and putting the works out to tender before the end of the year, a commitment that, she states, has not been fulfilled: «two years have passed since that commitment and not only has the work not been put out to tender, but the permit has not even been requested».
Casanueva attributes the delay to a succession of pending reports. According to her account, first the quality control was missing, then the report from the Instituto del Patrimonio Cultural de España (IPCE), and now, she says, reference is made to a report from the Dirección General de Patrimonio Cultural y Bellas Artes that was already announced as pending in February and that, eight months later, would still remain unresolved.
The senator states that the Grupo Popular in the Senado has monitored this matter throughout the entire legislative term, with more than twenty requests for information and written questions, and maintains that the Government's responses show a lack of transparency.
Casanueva has also warned of possible economic consequences of the delay, pointing out that every month that passes without the works being carried out means an increase in costs due to inflation and the rise in the price of construction materials. She adds that the absence of Presupuestos Generales del Estado in recent years could further complicate the execution of an action that, she indicates, was planned with its own funding.
The senator demands that the Government specify how many reports remain pending, why the building permit has not yet been requested from the Ayuntamiento, and when the action will be put out to tender and begun.
According to Casanueva, the paralysis affects not only the future museum infrastructure, but also the conservation and maintenance of the existing archaeological remains, in addition to limiting the impact that the work could have on employment and economic activity in the province.
The senator has contrasted this situation with the cultural actions of the administrations governed by the PP, such as the Diputación de Córdoba, the Ayuntamiento de Córdoba, and the Junta de Andalucía.
