The Villa del Río Recycling Point, located in the «La Estrella» Industrial Estate, now shows a renewed exterior image. The work has consisted of restoring this public space through urban art techniques, with which the signage and the image of the site have been renewed and it has been given a new visual identity.
An aesthetic inspired by nature
The intervention, carried out by the urban artist Javier Tarín, relies on different shades of green and on an aesthetic inspired by nature. According to the Environment and Urban Planning departments of the City Council, the proposal conveys values of cleanliness, sustainability, recycling and environmental conservation, and turns urban art into a tool for environmental awareness.
The City Council thanks Tarín for his work, whose creativity, it states, helps to beautify the municipality and to bring urban art closer to the public. The work is in addition to the cleaning, conditioning and maintenance tasks that have been carried out at these facilities.
Opening hours and accepted waste
The Recycling Point keeps its summer hours until October 30. It opens Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 13:00; Tuesday to Friday also in the afternoon, from 18:30 to 21:00; and Saturdays and Sundays, from 9:30 to 14:00.
Among the waste that can be deposited are paper and cardboard, glass, packaging, batteries, household oils, small rubble, electrical and electronic appliances, furniture and household items, pruning waste, textiles and X-rays. Toxic or hazardous waste, tyres, agricultural or livestock waste, radioactive waste and large-volume containers are not accepted.
Collection of household items and warning about dumping
For household items that cannot be taken to the Recycling Point there is a free collection service from Epremasa, with the phone number 900 314 155, Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 14:00. In Villa del Río the collection takes place on Tuesdays and requests are submitted through the Epremasa form.
The facilities are under video surveillance and it is forbidden to leave waste, furniture, bags, rubble or household items outside or outside the enabled places and hours. Uncontrolled dumping of waste is an administrative offence that can be sanctioned with fines of up to 3,000 euros, according to current regulations.
