What to do in the rain
The EMA 1-1-2 recommends avoiding unnecessary travel during heavy rain and checking the state of the roads before setting out. If travelling is essential, speed must be reduced, the safety distance increased and closures, diversions and indications from the emergency services respected.
A flooded road, a rambla, a stream or any area covered with water must never be crossed, neither on foot nor by vehicle. You must move away from channels, riverbanks, underpasses and low points, and avoid parking in flood-prone areas. In the event of flooding, you must go up to high and safe areas, head to the upper floors of the home and avoid basements, garages and ground floors at risk of flooding.
In any risk situation, you must call 1-1-2, free and available 24 hours, and indicate the location and what is happening.
