The University of Córdoba (UCO) has presented the course «Transforma tu empresa con WeODS: aprende a integrar la sostenibilidad y los ODS en tu empresa de forma ágil y eficiente», a free training aimed at the tourism business sector. It is taught in MOOC format, that is, open, online and asynchronous, and offers practical tools to incorporate sustainability into business strategy and management.

Two ten-week editions

The course lasts ten weeks and will have two editions during the academic year, which will begin on November 3, 2026 and February 2, 2027. The training is structured in six modules: the first introduces sustainability and its connection with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); the second addresses culture and leadership in organizations; the third, fourth and fifth modules focus on sustainability strategy and management, and the sixth is dedicated to transparent communication. The methodology combines short videos, reflection exercises, examples from the tourism sector and downloadable templates. The course allows companies to identify the SDGs most linked to their activity and translate their priorities into concrete measures, with those responsible, deadlines and indicators. UCOdigital has participated in the audiovisual and technical design with the production of 13 videos and the assembly of the course in Moodle.

Project in the Valle del Guadiato

The initiative is part of the project «Somos Turismo WeODS Guadiato 2030», promoted by CIC Batá with the support of the Fundación «la Caixa» and the collaboration of the UCO. It is a three-year project oriented towards sustainable tourism in the Valle del Guadiato, which accompanies companies and entities, promotes the participation of women and involves young people. Participating companies and entities will be able to join the «Red Somos Turismo WeODS», a space to exchange experiences and establish collaborations, with an interactive map to locate the participating organizations. The coordinator of the course, Maribel Rodríguez Zapatero, has explained that the training is the result of «more than six years of research with tourism companies» and that the main barrier to advancing in sustainability «is not the lack of will, but the lack of practical knowledge and strategic tools». The Vice-Rector for Transfer, Continuing Education and Entrepreneurship of the UCO, Sergio Castro, has pointed out that the course transfers the results of the research to the productive fabric. The delegate of the Fundación «la Caixa» in Andalucía, Yolanda López, and the president of CIC Batá, Rafael Cantero, have also participated in the presentation.
