Lucena celebrates World Tourism Day this weekend with a programme of free activities combining guided tours, cultural events and an outdoor route, according to the Lucena City Council.

Saturday activities

The programme began this Saturday with the event «Al Son de las Artes», part of the Patios con Arte series.

Guided tours and audio guides on Sunday

A large part of the programme is concentrated on Sunday, September 27. The Necrópolis Judía will have guided tours at nine and ten in the morning, while the Alfar Romano de los Tejares can be visited with a guide at twelve noon. Throughout the whole of Sunday, free audio-guided visits will also be open at the Castillo del Moral and Museo Arqueológico y Etnológico, from ten in the morning to three in the afternoon, and at the Palacio de los Condes de Santa Ana, from half past ten in the morning to two in the afternoon.

Hiking route with prior registration

The programme is completed with the Sendero el Cerro de las Puertas, setting off at ten in the morning on Sunday from Olivino, in Las Navas del Selpillar. It is a circular route of 5.187 kilometres, of low difficulty and lasting approximately an hour and a half, for which prior registration is required.

A tourism anniversary

The City Council notes that this edition coincides with the tenth anniversary of the awarding to Lucena of the Premio Andalucía de Turismo 2016 for Excellence in Tourism Management. The programme is also aligned with the slogan set by the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) for 2026, «Digital agenda and artificial intelligence to redesign tourism». In this regard, the City Council highlights free access to audio guides at sites such as the Castillo del Moral, the Museo Arqueológico y Etnológico and the Palacio de los Condes de Santa Ana, which allow each visitor to explore these sites at their own pace. Those wishing to take part in the hiking route of the Sendero el Cerro de las Puertas must register in advance; the remaining visits and audio guides are free and open to all during the times indicated this Sunday, September 27.
