The parish centre of la Trinidad in Córdoba hosted on Friday, October 27 the presentation of the first episode of the sixth season of the series «The Chosen», as part of the national tour the production is making through Spain. The event was organised by the Hermandad del Via Crucis within its programme «Los Lunes del Via Crucis» and brought together almost two hundred people, who exhausted the invitations a few hours after they were made available to the public.
A season centred on the Passion
The sixth season narrates the night from Thursday to Good Friday: it begins with the arrest in Gethsemane and concludes at nine in the morning on Good Friday. The head of the distributor in Spain, Gabriel López, was in charge of presenting the series and the new developments planned for the coming months. According to him, the key to its success lies in showing «the humanity, not only of Jesus, but also of his disciples and those who accompanied him», which makes the viewer connect with the characters.
López also announced the upcoming premieres: on March 12 the film «La crucifixión» will be presented in cinemas, and the seventh and final season, together with the final film about the resurrection, will arrive at Easter 2028.
Music and prayer before the screening
The event featured the participation of Carlos and Carito, who through music and prayer created an atmosphere of recollection before the showing of the episode. During the meeting, the fourth «Como en Casa» gala was also announced, scheduled for December 19, whose proceeds will go to the Hermandad's social work, a reception project for long-term hospital patients and their families in Córdoba.
The bishop of Córdoba attended the premiere and valued the series' coherence with Sacred Scripture. According to the organisation, the production has been spread as an instrument of evangelisation that in Spain alone has brought together millions of viewers.
