A lecture, a solemn veneration and a ceremony presided over by the bishop of Córdoba will mark the anniversary events on Friday, October 9 and Saturday, October 10, open to the whole neighborhood.
The Saturday, October 10 morning session has already taken place: the Parroquia de la Inmaculada Concepción hosted the Angelus prayer at 12:00 and the Holy Rosary at 12:15, as well as the veneration of the Virgin from 10:00 to 13:00, according to the Culture and Festivities areas of the Villa del Río City Council.
The note also states that the traditional "Subida" (raising) of the image to its Sanctuary will be accompanied musically by the Banda de Música Puente Romano, and that the brotherhood is presided over by D.ª Isabel Pérez Aguilar.
The Cofradía de Nuestra Señora de la Estrella Coronada is organizing a series of events to commemorate the 450th anniversary of its founding, which falls during 2026, according to the Culture and Festivities areas of the Villa del Río City Council. The events are open to residents, devotees and visitors.
Historical lecture on Friday
The first event will be on Friday, October 9, at 20:00, in the Salón de Plenos of the Villa del Río City Council. The town chronicler, Salomé Sánchez Collado, will give the lecture "Fundación de la Cofradía de la Virgen de la Estrella (1576): contexto y curiosidades".
Religious day on Saturday
Saturday, October 10 is when most of the events take place. From 10:00 to 13:00 the veneration of the Virgen de la Estrella Coronada will be held in the Parroquia de la Inmaculada Concepción, where the Angelus will also be prayed at 12:00 and the Holy Rosary at 12:15.
At 17:00, the image of the Virgin will leave the parish in a procession to the Plaza de la Constitución, where at 18:00 a religious service presided over by the bishop of Córdoba, Jesús Fernández González, will be held. The day will conclude at 19:00 with the raising of the image to the sanctuary.
A 450th anniversary
The municipal Culture and Festivities areas note that these events commemorate the 450 years of history of the brotherhood, founded in 1576.
