The Association of Brotherhoods opens the submission period for the Memorial Juan Luis Seco photography competition

Amateur and professional photographers may submit up to five images per category to the XLVI Photography Competition of the Brotherhoods of Córdoba, with prizes of 750, 500 and 250 euros in each of the two categories. The deadline is January 20, 2027.

The Agrupación de Hermandades y Cofradías de Córdoba has approved the rules of the XLVI Photography Competition of the Hermandades de Córdoba «Memorial Juan Luis Seco», which accepts works from the penitential and Gloria processions held in the city in 2026. Persons over 18 years of age residing in Spain may participate, with the exceptions set out in the rules, and each author may submit a maximum of five photographs per category.

Two categories and up to 750 euros per category

Since the 2024 edition, the competition has maintained two categories: the penitential processions of Holy Week and the processions of the Gloria brotherhoods. In each one, a first prize of 750 euros, a second of 500 and a third of 250 will be awarded, and special mentions may be granted. No participant may obtain more than two prizes, except in the case provided for in the rules for a third distinction as a special mention. The images must be original and unpublished, must not have been submitted to other competitions or disseminated in digital or printed media, and must have been taken during the traditional penitential or Gloria processions of the grouped brotherhoods of Córdoba in 2026. Transfers, Stations of the Cross, dawn rosaries, extraordinary processions, services inside the temples and any activity that is not a traditional procession are excluded.

Technical requirements and submission

Photographs must be submitted in JPEG format, at 300 dpi, with dimensions of 3508 × 4961 pixels and Adobe RGB 1998 color profile. Each image must have a title and a description of a maximum of one hundred words including the place where it was taken and, where applicable, the brotherhood that appears. Electronic alterations and photomontages are not accepted, although minor color and brightness corrections are allowed. The jury will assess technical quality and artistic creativity.

How to participate

Works are sent by email to administracion@hermandadesdecordoba.es, with the subject «CONCURSOFOTO» followed by the motto chosen by the author. The photographs must be attached in separate files and a PDF document with the motto, the titles of the works, the author's name, DNI, telephone, email and the descriptions. The deadline ends on January 20, 2027 at 23:00 hours. If the size of the files prevents attaching them, a download link may be provided via Google Drive or another platform that guarantees their availability at least until March 2027. The works submitted may be selected for the Agrupación's exhibitions, whose authors will be notified before the opening; at these, the prizes will be announced and the distinctions presented. The photographs will remain in the possession of the Agrupación, which may use them citing the authorship.
