The president of Alfusal, Loli Ortiz, read the text, focused this year on access to new treatments for the disease. Under the slogan «El no ya no es respuesta», the manifesto demands that treatments approved by the European Medicines Agency be funded with public funds in Spain and that access to them take place under conditions of equity, regardless of patients' place of residence or economic situation.
During the reading, Ortiz noted that in 2025 two treatments capable of slowing the progression of Alzheimer's in early stages were approved in Europe, and drew attention to the time that has passed since then without a decision on their public funding in Spain.
The manifesto also calls for affected people to be able to decide, together with healthcare professionals, whether they wish to receive these treatments, and demands the resources needed to apply them across the healthcare system.
Mayor's speech
After the reading of the manifesto, the mayor of Priego de Córdoba, Juan Ramón Valdivia, spoke, and according to the statement issued by the Ayuntamiento, he highlighted the impact of the disease both on diagnosed people and on their families, and defended the importance of continuing to promote research, early detection, and the work of associations.
The event also served to raise awareness of the work carried out by Alfusal in Priego.
