The Colegio de Enfermería organizes a conference on perinatal grief in Córdoba
The event, open to the whole population, will be held on October 15 at the Hospital San Juan de Dios de Córdoba, with free prior registration until October 8.

The midwives' working group of the Colegio Oficial de Enfermería (COE) de Córdoba is organizing the session «Acompañando en el duelo perinatal», which will take place on Thursday, October 15, from 17.00 to 20.30, in the assembly hall of the Hospital San Juan de Dios de Córdoba.
The session coincides with the World Day of Pregnancy, Perinatal and Neonatal Death, commemorated every October 15. The event is open to all interested members of the public and requires free prior registration, available through a form until October 8.
After the opening, a round table will be held in which several midwives from the province, from both public and private healthcare, will present their views on perinatal grief and explain the care they provide to families. Next, the perinatal psychiatrist Raquel Carmona will address the follow-up of complicated perinatal grief.
After a snack during which attendees will be able to share experiences in a more relaxed way, the session will include testimonies from families who have gone through this situation.
According to COE Córdoba, the aim of the event is to make visible the role of nurses specialized in Gynecology and Obstetrics in the care of perinatal grief in the province, as well as to share support, recommendations and experiences with affected families. The activity is supported by the Consejo Andaluz de Enfermería (CAE).
Perinatal grief occurs after the loss of a baby during pregnancy or in the moments before or after birth. According to data from the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), the perinatal mortality rate in Andalucía was 3.69 deaths per 1,000 births in 2024, compared to 4.03 nationally. This rate has decreased over the last decade: in 2014 it stood at 5.06 in Andalucía and 4.48 nationwide.
