Crespín denounces the closure of 36 public classrooms and a shortage of 321 teachers in Córdoba
The general secretary of the PSOE of Córdoba, Rafi Crespín, has denounced that the school year has started in the province with fewer classrooms, uncovered substitutions and higher costs for families, according to union data.

According to data provided by trade union organizations, at the start of the school year 176 teachers were missing in Infant and Primary Education centers and another 145 professionals in the province's institutes. Crespín has attributed this situation to a lack of foresight on the part of the Junta de Andalucía, which, she said, knows the needs of the centers in advance.
The socialist leader has pointed out that this staff shortage has consequences for the functioning of the centers, with substitutions left uncovered in some schools and specialist teachers sharing centers.
Regarding attention to diversity, the union data cited indicate that students with special educational needs and specific educational support needs have grown by 50.8% between the 2015-2016 and 2024-2025 school years, reaching 10,635 students, while positions in Therapeutic Pedagogy, Hearing and Language, and Guidance have increased by around 17%.
Loss of units and ratios
According to the union report mentioned by Crespín, the province has lost almost 18% of its public Infant and Primary Education units between the 2009-2010 and 2024-2025 school years. To the 300 classrooms eliminated in the province since the PP came to power in the Andalusian Government, another 36 new units have disappeared this school year in various municipalities.
Crespín has also warned of ratios of 26, 27 and even 28 students in Infant and Primary classrooms, 32 students in Secondary Education groups and 37 in Baccalaureate in certain centers of the province, figures she considers incompatible with quality attention for students with educational needs.
Vocational Training and air conditioning
On Vocational Training (FP), the socialist leader has pointed out that the public network has gone from enrolling 71.7% of FP students in Córdoba in the 2009-2010 school year to 63.4% in 2024-2025, while private provision has gone from 3% to 22.2% in the same period, according to the union data cited. Crespín has called on the Junta for a public FP expansion plan with more places and stable funding.
