The Sierras Subbéticas Geopark turns 20 and celebrates it with an event on Thursday, October 22 at 11.00 at the Santa Rita Visitor Centre, on the A-339 Cabra-Priego road, kilometre 11.2, in Cabra. The event is attended by the delegate for Sustainability and the Environment, Daniel García-Ibarrola.

A territory of sierras and valleys

The Sierras Subbéticas are a group of sierras and valleys of the Subbética mountain range that occupy the south of the province of Córdoba and give their name to the Subbética region, with an extension towards the southwest of the province of Jaén. Inside them is the Sierras Subbéticas natural park.

The region and ecotourism

The celebration coincides with the tourism and outreach activity that the region has been developing around its natural resources. The portal reported on October 18, 2026 that Doña Mencía was closing that Sunday its 5th Ecotourism Fair, which brought together over the weekend companies, associations, producers, artisans and visitors around the natural, heritage and gastronomic resources of the Córdoba Subbética, with Luque as the guest town.

The event
