The workshops, given by journalists specialized in fact-checking, will be held between October 14 and 16 at the educational centers themselves. In them, students will be presented with data on disinformation and pseudoscience in Spain, and it will be explained how hoaxes related to scientific topics circulate on the internet.
In addition to that information, students will be offered tools so they can develop their own strategy against fake news. According to the UCO, the program uses examples with references and characters known to young people to raise awareness of the risks of disinformation and the importance of not sharing unverified news.
The initiative is organized by the Unidad de Cultura Científica y de la Innovación of the UCO, which aims to promote media literacy and train students in handling evidence-based information sources.
How to request it
Educational centers interested in hosting one of the workshops must fill out a form available online before September 30. The full call for applications can be consulted through the link provided by the UCO.
