Veterinary Sciences is, once again, the UCO's best-placed discipline: it rises from 40th to 37th place worldwide, out of 300 institutions evaluated. In Spain it remains the second university among the fourteen included in this subject, and in Andalusia it repeats first place among the two institutions present, the UCO and the Universidad de Granada (UGR).

In Agricultural Sciences, the UCO moves from the 101-150 band to the 151-200 band worldwide, among 500 institutions analyzed. Nationally it holds fifth place out of 29 universities, and in Andalusia it is second, after the Universidad de Sevilla, out of a total of six institutions included.

In Food Science and Technology, the UCO remains in the 201-300 worldwide band out of 400 institutions, although it drops from 12th to 13th place among the 23 Spanish universities present. In Andalusia it holds third position among the three universities included in this discipline.

The fourth discipline is Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, in which the UCO regains its presence after having disappeared in 2025, following continuous inclusion since 2019. The university is placed in the 301-400 band out of 500 institutions worldwide, in seventh place out of 14 Spanish universities and among the three Andalusian universities present, alongside the UGR and the Universidad de Sevilla.

According to the university, since the methodological reform applied by Shanghai Ranking in 2024, the GRAS incorporates criteria of international prestige of faculty alongside the usual bibliometric indicators of scientific output and impact. In the breakdown by indicators for 2026, the UCO obtains a similar score in International Collaboration across its four disciplines, and stands out especially in High Quality Publications in Veterinary Sciences and in Research Impact in Pharmacy.

The institution notes that, despite its medium size within the Spanish university context, it maintains reference positions in highly specialized disciplines that constitute its historical strengths, and points out that strengthening the international standing of its faculty is the area for improvement it identifies for upcoming editions.
