The Lucena City Council has asked the Government Subdelegation in Córdoba for an extraordinary meeting of the Local Security Board to analyse the latest incidents recorded in the city and strengthen coordination between administrations and police forces. The mayor, Aurelio Fernández, has confirmed the request and explained that the arrangements began on Monday, after the brawl that occurred during the early hours of Sunday.

Reinforcement of the Local Police

The City Council plans to reinforce the Local Police with the addition of new resources, including a security camera system whose installation has already been awarded. Fernández has also reiterated the request to increase the resources and officers of the Lucena-Cabra National Police Station, a demand that, he recalled, the police unions have also raised.

No connection between the incidents

Fernández has stressed that public security corresponds to the State Security Forces and Bodies, under the coordination of the Government Subdelegation in Córdoba, and that the City Council will continue to collaborate within its municipal powers. "The investigations correspond to the National Police and the Council does not yet have all the information," he assured.

Prevention and coexistence

The mayor has insisted on the need to address the public concern generated by these episodes and to continue working on the prevention of new incidents through permanent contact and coordination between police officials. "From the local government we will continue working so that the safety of our neighbours is as great as possible," he stated.
