Baena celebrates the Fresh Oil Week «Entre olivos y almazara» on November 4, 5 and 9, sessions that coincide with the start of the olive harvesting campaign. The three sessions will be held at the Museo del Olivar y el Aceite de Baena and will begin at 18.00 hours.

Tourism, innovation and health

On Wednesday, November 4, the afternoon will be devoted to tourism. It will open with a lecture on olive oil tourism strategies for local development by the expert Pedro Julián Jiménez and will continue with an oil tasting for professionals in the tourism sector given by Isabel Calvache. On Thursday, November 5, the programme will focus on innovation, youth and gastronomy. There will be a talk-discussion on generational succession and technology in the countryside with Cristóbal Cano and the farmer Paula de Prado, followed by the business presentation «De la parcela al negocio», by Iván Viudes and Alberto García. The afternoon will end with a tasting that will combine extra virgin olive oil with wines from the Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP) Montilla-Moriles and artisan cheeses. On Monday, November 9, the closing session will address sustainability and health. The environmental scientist Raúl Rojano will present research on the climate crisis in the olive grove. Afterwards there will be a keynote lecture on the role of extra virgin olive oil in health and sport, by the professor and endocrinologist Antonio Escribano, and it will close with a professional technical tasting given by the Consejo Regulador de la Denominación de Origen (DO) Baena.
