Cabra celebrates its 13th Partridge Calling Fair on December 5 and 6

The ADIE Centre will host the thirteenth 'Ciudad de Cabra' Partridge Calling Fair on December 5 and 6, organised by the Sociedad Deportiva de Cazadores with the collaboration of the Town Council and the Diputación de Córdoba.

The XIII 'Ciudad de Cabra' Partridge Calling Fair will be held on December 5 and 6 at the ADIE Centre. Opening to the public will be on Saturday, December 5 at 09.30 hours and the inaugural event will begin at 11.00 hours, as detailed by the secretary of the Sociedad Deportiva de Cazadores de Cabra, Antonio Gutiérrez.

Exhibitors and local products

The fair will maintain the line of previous editions, with breeders and exhibitors of nationally renowned partridges and around twenty stands dedicated to hunting items, saddlery, cutlery and food. There will also be cured meats, wines, cheeses and olive oil, taking advantage of the influx of visitors to promote local products, as explained by the president of the society, Juan Romero.

Competition and recognitions

The programme includes the traditional partridge beauty and singing competition, whose prize ceremony will be held on Sunday, December 6 at around 16.00 hours. There will be a gift for all participants, prizes for the first thirty classified specimens and special recognitions. Before that ceremony, a tribute will be paid to David Candel, Pedro Buendía and José Urbano for their contribution to the dissemination of the call through videos on social media and television programmes. The inauguration will feature a performance by the cantaor from Lucena Jesús Reyes, a member of the society, and will include the presentation of the Perdigón de Plata. The organisation is keeping the identity of the distinguished person secret until the event itself, Gutiérrez has pointed out.

Institutional collaboration

The mayor of Cabra, Fernando Priego, has presented the event together with the municipal delegate for Sports, Francisco Casas, and the heads of the organising society. Priego has thanked the organisation for its work and has encouraged the public to take part during the December long weekend. The fair has the collaboration of the Ayuntamiento and the Diputación de Córdoba through the Instituto Provincial de Desarrollo Económico (Iprodeco).
