The image of the Señor de la Humildad is now in the Capilla de Jesús de Villa del Río, after the extraordinary transfer carried out on Saturday, October 31 from the Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción. The departure was held on the occasion of the Franciscan Jubilee Year and the 40th anniversary of the refoundation of the Franciscana Hermandad de la Humildad, which falls between 1986 and 2026.
The transfer was conceived as an act of recollection and prayer in memory of the victims of the railway accident and of the deceased, coinciding with the feast of All Saints and the commemoration of the Faithful Departed. The brotherhood asked those who took part to wear dark clothing and carry promise candles, which it provided to anyone who wanted them, and it removed the decorations planned for the streets along the route.
Hand-kissing and charity collection
This Sunday, November 1, the Capilla de Jesús hosted an extraordinary hand-kissing in honor of the Señor de la Humildad throughout the day. During the event, a charity collection was held for FONDESOL, of the Franciscanas Misioneras de la Madre del Divino Pastor.
Processional return on Saturday the 7th
The image will return to the Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción on Saturday, November 7. The departure from the Capilla de Jesús is scheduled for 17:30 and the route will pass through San Roque, Nueva, Caballeros, Plaza de España, Antonio Machado, Unión y Cultura, Blas Infante, Plaza de la Constitución, Pablo Picasso and the Parroquia de la Inmaculada Concepción, where a mass will be held upon its arrival. The Agrupación Musical Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno «La Madrugá» will also accompany the return, and the soprano Concepción Martos will perform during the eucharist.
The councillor for Social Services, María Soto Caro, was present at Saturday's transfer, together with the brotherhood's Junta de Gobierno, presided over by the hermano mayor, Santiago Orozco Castro, as well as other hermanas mayores, the Hermanas Franciscanas de la Madre del Divino Pastor and the priest Víctor José Morón Illanes. The Ayuntamiento has thanked the work of the Agrupación Local de Voluntarios de Protección Civil and of the Policía Local during the route, as reported by the Consistorio.
