The Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba hosts an international conference on heritage and sustainability on November 12. The event, in hybrid format, can be followed in person at the Palacio de Congresos de Córdoba and also online, with streaming in Spanish and English. The event is organized by the Cabildo Catedral de Córdoba together with the Universidad de Córdoba, the Ayuntamiento de Córdoba and the Club de Córdoba para la UNESCO (CUCO), with the sponsorship of the Comisión Nacional Española de Cooperación con la UNESCO, as announced by the Cabildo. The goal is to bring together the monument's heritage community with experts and key actors in heritage management to reflect on its role as a driver of sustainability. The conference will address the three dimensions associated with that concept: people, nature and the economy, and will stress the importance of preserving both cultural heritage, tangible and intangible, and natural heritage.

Data for the sustainability report

One of the focuses of the conference will be the collection of data on the expectations, needs and suggestions of the stakeholders linked to the Mezquita-Catedral. That material will be analyzed by the sustainability team to incorporate it into the monument's sustainability report. The organization hopes that the Mezquita-Catedral will be recognized by bodies such as UNESCO and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), and by other sites inscribed on the World Heritage List, as a model of sustainable management. To attend, prior registration is required through the official Mezquita-Catedral website. Registration allows access to this international forum for reflection and dialogue on sustainability and heritage.
