The University of Córdoba presents two UCOPress books at the Book Fair

The University of Córdoba takes part in the 51st edition of the Córdoba Book Fair with the presentation of two works from its publishing house UCOPress: a book on film history and a biography of Pueblonuevo del Terrible.

The University of Córdoba (UCO) is taking part in the 51st edition of the Córdoba Book Fair with the presentation of two works published in recent months by its press, UCOPress. Both events are free to attend for anyone at the fair.

Film history, on Saturday 24

The first of the titles is «Del Clasicismo a la Modernidad. Historia de los movimientos cinematográficos (1915-19759)», by Pedro Poyato. The presentation will be given by the UCO Professor of Art History Ana Melendo and will take place on Saturday, October 24 at 19.30, at stand 14. The work sets out a history of cinema based on the dialectic between classicism and modernity, two terms between which the so-called realism movements would sit, which the publication identifies as precursors of modern cinema.

Pueblonuevo del Terrible, on Monday 26

The second title is «La vida y la muerte en Pueblonuevo del Terrible (1887-1939)», by Patricia Schechter. It will be presented by the Director General of Culture of the University of Córdoba and of UCOPress, Elisa Borsari, on Monday, October 26 at 17.00, at stand 15. It is a biography of Pueblonuevo del Terrible, a mining village located in what is today the Córdoba town of Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo. The book describes how a 19th-century mining camp became a prosperous municipality in the interwar period, whose residents joined together in defence of the Republic when the Spanish civil war broke out.

How to attend
