The Puente Genil City Council is providing a special bus service to the cemetery between October 26 and 30, with connections from the town centre, El Palomar and Sotogordo, and is extending the cemetery's opening hours.
The Puente Genil City Council has activated a special arrangement to make visits to the cemetery easier for the All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day holiday. The measure includes a special bus service, changes to the cemetery's opening hours and work on the access roads.
Bus from the town centre and the villages
The special bus service will run on October 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30, with morning and afternoon connections. Urban line L3, which links Santo Domingo, the Hospital and the Cemetery, will extend its route to the cemetery without changing its usual stops. Lines L1 and L2 will have connection points and coordinated timetables to make transfers easier.
The departure times from Santo Domingo towards the cemetery are 9:15, 10:15, 11:15, 12:15, 13:15 and 14:15, as well as 16:15 and 17:15.
There will also be specific services for the villages of Sotogordo and El Palomar during those same five days. These buses will make the L1 line stops up to the Bus Station and continue directly to the Cemetery. In the case of Sotogordo, departures towards the cemetery are scheduled for 9:45 and 11:15, with returns from the cemetery at 12:00 and 13:15.
Cemetery hours and masses
The councillor for the Presidency, Economic Development, Employment, Heritage and Cemetery, Javier Villafranca, has recalled that the cemetery is open from 9:00 to 20:00 until October 24. Between October 25 and November 1, the hours will be from 9:00 to 18:00.
The Cemetery chapel will remain open in the morning, between 9:00 and 14:00, and mass is scheduled to be held on November 1 and 2 at 17:00.
Works and traffic management
The arrangement includes resurfacing the access road to the cemetery, with a renewed surface area of 1,784.09 square metres, as well as clearing and preparing the land next to the grounds to increase parking possibilities and improve vehicle traffic in the surrounding area.
The Local Police keep a specific traffic arrangement active with extraordinary signage and the placement of barriers to manage traffic, regulate parking and guarantee pedestrian and vehicle accessibility.
What to do
The City Council recommends planning journeys in advance, paying attention to temporary signage and following the Local Police's instructions to make traffic and parking easier during the busiest days. The special bus service will be operating from October 26 to 30, and the cemetery's reduced hours, from 9:00 to 18:00, apply from October 25 to November 1.
