The Ayuntamiento de Baena will work on about 35 kilometres of rural roads owned by the municipality through the machinery rental contract, with conservation work on a network of more than 800 kilometres. It also plans to contract the improvement of the road surface of the cordel Córdoba-Jaén.
The Ayuntamiento de Baena will work on approximately 35 kilometres of rural roads in the municipality before the start of the olive harvest. The actions focus on conservation and maintenance work on locally owned roads that need priority preparation to facilitate the movement of farmers and agricultural machinery.
The roads included
The work will be carried out through the machinery rental contract already signed by the Ayuntamiento and will affect different routes: Camino Torre del Montecillo, de Pedro Muñoz, de la Cuesta Rojita, de Las Zarzas, de Consuegra, de Morana Salinas de Vadofresno, de los Reventones, de Jaén, de los Alarcones, de los Manchones (Fuente Baena), camino de Córdoba (Salobreja), de Abrague and Senda Berdeja.
The municipality has a network of roads of more than 800 kilometres, so municipal interventions are limited to specific actions on the roads where preparation is a priority.
Pending from the Junta
The Ayuntamiento says it is waiting for the Junta de Andalucía to act on repairing the damage caused by the train of storms through specific subsidies. The planned actions affect the Camino del Carrascalejo and the Camino de Doña Mencía a Baena, the only two approved by the Junta within the aid for that damage, out of the twelve requested by the Consistorio. The Ayuntamiento says it is awaiting the resolution of the appeal filed because it disagrees with the exclusion of the rest of the roads requested.
Improvement of the cordel Córdoba-Jaén
In the coming days the Ayuntamiento will put out to contract the works to improve the road surface of the cordel Córdoba-Jaén, a road owned by the Junta de Andalucía. The Consistorio will take on the work through the Humaniza programme due to the lack of maintenance by the regional administration. The work will affect the La Pista area in Albendín, as well as the Gastaceites and Maturra areas and towards Ízcar.
Municipal powers
The Ayuntamiento stresses that its direct competence covers only municipally owned roads, although on specific occasions it intervenes on provincially or regionally owned roads due to the urgency of particular cases, such as the cordel Córdoba-Jaén. It therefore urges all public administrations to fully assume their powers in the conservation and improvement of the roads they own.
What you need to know
The actions on municipal roads are carried out through the machinery rental contract already signed by the Ayuntamiento. The improvement of the road surface of the cordel Córdoba-Jaén will be put out to contract in the coming days.
