The 405 community pharmacies in the province of Córdoba are already offering the Fundación Bangassou charity tickets for the Christmas Lottery. Each ticket costs 24 euros and four of them are allocated as a donation to the purchase of medical supplies and medicines for the Bangassou region, in the Central African Republic. The campaign is presented this Tuesday, October 20, at the headquarters of the Colegio de Farmacéuticos de Córdoba.

What the donation buys

The funds raised are used for medicines and medical supplies for Bangassou, as well as general products such as sunscreens, moisturising creams and specific items for children, such as infant formula and baby bottles. This was explained by the president of the Fundación Bangassou, Miguel Aguirre, who noted that last year more than 1,000 charity tickets were sold in Córdoba pharmacies and he expects to exceed that figure in this edition.

Sixteen years of collaboration

The Colegio de Farmacéuticos de Córdoba and the province's pharmacists are taking part in this initiative for the sixteenth consecutive year. The president of the corporation, Rafael Casaño, said that the pharmacy network brings the campaign closer to residents and encouraged the people of Córdoba and the province to buy the tickets. According to Casaño, the pharmacy profession maintains a care commitment to people and also a social commitment to the most vulnerable groups. The Fundación Bangassou, established in 2002, will turn 25 in 2027. It develops educational, health and social promotion projects in that region, including the care of 350 orphaned children and young people, a home for more than 100 elderly people with senile dementia and 18 schools and school centres with about 10,000 pupils. The area belongs to the Diocese of which the Córdoba-born bishop Juan José Aguirre was bishop.

How to take part

To collaborate, simply buy one of the charity tickets at any of the 405 community pharmacies distributed throughout the province of Córdoba, at the price of 24 euros. Sales continue until the Christmas Lottery draw is held. The campaign presentation was attended by the president of the Fundación Bangassou, Miguel Aguirre; the president of the Colegio de Farmacéuticos de Córdoba, Rafael Casaño; and the treasurer of the corporation, José Eugenio Rodríguez.
