Lucena unveils the CEIP Antonio Machado dining hall after two years as a temporary facility
The school's new dining hall has been operating since the start of the school year and serves more than a hundred students, following renovation work by the Ayuntamiento de Lucena.

The school canteen at CEIP Antonio Machado, in Lucena, has been running at full capacity since last week, coinciding with the start of the school year, following the refurbishment works carried out by the Ayuntamiento. The service caters to more than a hundred students.
The facilities had operated during the two previous school years on a provisional basis in a nearby location provided by the ayuntamiento, with daily support from the Policía Local during the schoolchildren's journey at entry and exit times.
The works have included the refurbishment of the canteen spaces, the completion of the restrooms and several improvements to the electrical installation, including the renewal of the electrical panels and a new trench to adapt the installation to the school's current needs. According to the statement issued by the Ayuntamiento de Lucena, the final works were carried out by the Lucena-based company Escolten, following the termination of the contract with the original contractor.
The mayor of Lucena, Aurelio Fernández, and the councillor for Education, Miriam Ortiz, visited the new facilities this Monday, coinciding with the students' entry into the canteen and lunchtime, and were able to see how the day unfolded alongside the team of monitors running the service.
The mayor thanked the school's management, the AMPA and the families for «the patience and cooperation» during the school years in which the canteen operated on a provisional basis. «We wanted to come today to check that everything is in order and that it is as we wanted it to be,» said Fernández.
