The Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba opened its doors this Thursday to the participants of the XXVIII Encuentro del Foro de Investigación del Mundo Árabe y Musulmán (FIMAM), an academic congress held at the Casa Árabe Córdoba venue between October 21 and 23. The group is made up of about 60 researchers, mostly young Spanish scholars who approach their lines of work from a multidisciplinary perspective.

Free access and tour

According to the Cabildo, the visit took place during the afternoon of this Thursday and access was free for the specialists, at the request of Casa Árabe, in order to complete the cultural programme linked to the academic meeting. The tour began at 15:30 with a reception by the dean-president of the Cabildo, Joaquín Alberto Nieva, who personally showed them the new Centro de Interpretación y Recepción de Visitantes (CIR). Afterwards, the researchers continued the visit inside the temple.

A congress held until Friday

FIMAM is holding its twenty-eighth edition in Córdoba, with sessions at Casa Árabe between Wednesday, October 21 and Friday, October 23. The visit to the monument is part of the congress's cultural programme. The Cabildo notes that this collaboration reflects the relationship between Córdoba's historical heritage and the fields of study that are the focus of FIMAM's research, and frames it within its wish to foster cultural encounter, support for academic research and interreligious dialogue.

For the participants

Researchers accredited at the congress were able to access the monument at no cost during the afternoon of Thursday, October 22, with a reception beforehand at 15:30.
