The II Cofrade Fair of Spain and Ibero-America has closed its doors at the Centro de Exposiciones, Ferias y Convenciones de Córdoba (CEFC) with more than 8,000 visitors, according to the Agrupación de Hermandades y Cofradías de Córdoba. The event was held from October 16 to 18 and brought together professionals, artisans, companies, institutions, brotherhoods and confraternities from various parts of Spain and internationally.
Nearly a hundred exhibitors
The fairground hosted nearly a hundred stands and specialised spaces. Among the participants were workshops and professionals of imagery, goldsmithing, embroidery, candle-making and restoration. The fair allowed the public to learn about the processes of creation and conservation of the heritage items of the brotherhoods, and offered companies and workshops a space to show their work and establish contacts.
The international dimension was another of the axes of this edition, with a delegation from San Luis Potosí as guest country and an exhibition dedicated to the Holy Week of the Agrupación in Antigua Guatemala. The Agrupación frames the event under the Córdoba Capital Cofrade brand, which seeks to give visibility throughout the year to the cultural, artistic and tourist heritage linked to the brotherhoods.
Business, innovation and music
In parallel, the IV Encuentro Empresarial Cofrade and the III Salón de Emprendimiento Cofrade were held, with technical talks and round tables on generational succession and the participation of cofrade youth. The programme included content on the accreditation of professional skills in collaboration with the Centro de Referencia Nacional de Producción de Joyería y Madera, and the so-called «Aulas del Futuro», with technological solutions from Córdoba 360, Nexional, Netherman, App Sur, Geopasos and Melampo.
The Paseo de la Música hosted performances by the Banda Passio Christi, from Priego de Córdoba; the Banda de los Sayones, from Pozoblanco; and the Banda del Perdón. The training offer included a master class on cofrade floral art by Ego Floristería, activities by the Escuela de Saetas de Córdoba, cofrade digital photography and video sessions by Fococor with Gema León, and a parade and master class on the black mantilla coordinated by the Colectivo La Hebra. Also added were the religious theatre performance from Doña Mencía and the performance of the Escolanía de Santa Victoria.
La Taberna Cofrade
Gastronomy had its space in the Taberna Cofrade, managed by La Cazuela de la Espartería, with lunches and live culinary demonstrations. Among them stood out the preparation of the pastelón cordobés by José Joaquín Roldán, master artisan baker of Spain and representative of the Pastelería El Brillante, along with tastings of Cuaresma stew and other Cordoban specialities.
With this second edition, the Agrupación notes that Córdoba continues to advance in the dissemination of its cofrade legacy and in collaboration between professionals, institutions and entities.
