Bujalance has presented «La Epifanía», a previously unseen painting by Acisclo Antonio Palomino, a painter and treatise writer born in the town. The work has been made known after its restoration and it is the first time the municipality has exhibited a painting by its author, according to the City Council.

A previously unseen work in his city

The Council notes that, despite the town having kept the memory of Palomino in squares, monuments and publications, until now it had not been able to see a painting by the artist in the municipality itself. The presentation was held on Tuesday, October 20, and was attended by teachers, artists and art specialists, some of them from other parts of Andalusia, such as Málaga.

The III Centenary, under way

The event is part of the programme of the III Centenary of the death of Palomino, which the City Council announced in August and whose agenda began on Monday, October 20, with the official presentation of «La Adoración de los Reyes Magos» at the Council's headquarters. A lecture on the painter's beginnings was scheduled for Tuesday, October 21.

Acknowledgements and participants

The Councillor for Culture, Toni Pavón, thanked Antonio Varo, owner of the painting, for making its presentation possible, and José María Palencia for his collaboration. The city's official chronicler, Francisco Martínez Mejías, also attended the event.
