The Reina Sofía University Hospital in Córdoba is holding its first Health Fair this Wednesday, October 28, an open day forming part of the events for the centre's 50th anniversary. The event brings together healthcare professionals, patients, volunteer organisations and the public around activities promoting health, awareness and culture.

Workshops and information stands

The fair includes information stands and practical workshops on cardiovascular prevention, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, healthy eating, body composition and pelvic floor care. These activities are staffed by professionals from different Nursing services and allow attendees to learn about health-related recommendations and resources. Another of the featured spaces brings together 20 patient associations and volunteer organisations that regularly collaborate with the hospital. During the day they present their work and the resources they offer to patients and families.

Music and painting

The programme includes Pianos por la vida, a musical marathon linked to the Rafael Orozco International Piano Festival. It features 43 young pianists from the Músico Ziryab and Rafael Orozco conservatories, with performances scheduled between ten in the morning and three in the afternoon in the lobby of the Hospital General. In addition, the winning works from the first Quick Painting Competition organised to mark the anniversary are on display. First prize went to Laura García Ortega; second prize to Fernando Angulo Torralbo, and the runner-up mention to Rafael Jiménez Reyes. The day is completed with the screening of the documentary Sangre, sudor y alegría, about the experience of five people with haemophilia and their families during the Camino de Santiago. The session includes a discussion with experts.

Annual continuity

The hospital's managing director, Francisco Triviño, has said that the fair aims to strengthen the centre's relationship with Córdoba society and has announced that the initiative will continue annually to coincide with the hospital's anniversary.
